ART AND POWER

Published by TL LVA

ART AND POWER
We began a new theme, that of the art and power.
First of all we are asked us " What is the frontier between what is Art and what isn't? Is art a way to express power? Is the spectator infused with a sense of power?"
Then the professor showed us an extract of the series "friends" for to show that the art is different according to the people.
We defined what is art, art is intrinsically subjective, it depends on your sensitivity, your past, your emotion..The spectator is endowed with the power of interpreting the work of art. Art can be defined as the expression of creativity and imagination. Actually what makes something artistic is either the faact that it's displayed in a museum, put on a pedestal or signed by an artist.
Then, we have study the " Reinventing the Wheel" of Marcel Duchamp.
The fact of that is that the artist chose an ordinary object to transfigure it into a work of art. Marcel Duchamp considered that as a figure of authority in contemporary art because he was the first to have this idea and he defined a new conception of art.

Art has changed in the 20th century because art is no longer defined by the value of the creation but by the idea the artist has.
